{"id":68,"date":"2016-05-06T02:32:08","date_gmt":"2016-05-06T02:32:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fontainemaurysociety.com\/announcements\/?p=68"},"modified":"2016-05-06T02:32:08","modified_gmt":"2016-05-06T02:32:08","slug":"information-sought-on-slave-cemetery-on-grounds-of-bien-venue-louisa-county-virginia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/fontainemaurysociety.com\/announcements\/announcements\/information-sought-on-slave-cemetery-on-grounds-of-bien-venue-louisa-county-virginia\/","title":{"rendered":"Information Sought on Slave Cemetery on Grounds of Bien Venue, Louisa County, Virginia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Does anyone have any information on a slave cemetery on the grounds of Bien Venue, the plantation of Aaron Fontaine (1753-1823, son of the Reverend Peter Fontaine) in Louisa County, Virginia, where he lived before moving with his family to Kentucky?<\/p>\n<p>One of our Society members recently visited the area and drove through the neighborhood named \u201cBien Venue.\u201d\u00a0 They stopped and spoke with a local resident who knew where the old house had been before it was torn down.\u00a0 A new house is under construction there now (beautiful view from the homesite).\u00a0 They noticed a clump of trees and upright stones in a wooded area about 150 feet from the new home construction.\u00a0 There were at least 3 upright stones that were obviously meant to be tombstones.\u00a0 One of them had the name \u201cNate\u201d or \u201cNat\u201d scratched on it.\u00a0 The problem is that the scratched name looked fairly recent.\u00a0 That was the only marked stone, but there were several other smaller ones that appeared to be markers for graves.\u00a0 The area had a few flags around it, so\u00a0<u>someone<\/u>\u00a0knows it is there. \u00a0If anyone has information about this cemetery, please contact <a href=\"mailto:trcaven@bellsouth.net\">trcaven@bellsouth.net<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Does anyone have any information on a slave cemetery on the grounds of Bien Venue, the plantation of Aaron Fontaine (1753-1823, son of the Reverend Peter Fontaine) in Louisa County, Virginia, where he lived before moving with his family to Kentucky?
